The Wanderer's Necklace
In H. Rider Haggard's adventure romance The Wanderer's Necklace, the Danish warrior Olaf converts to Christianity and travels to Constantinople to guard the Byzantine Empress Irene. In the course of his wanderings, Olaf learns about his past lives. Cassell and Co., London, published the first book edition of WN on 29 January 1914, accompanied by four full-page lithographs by A. C. Michael, including a color frontispiece. Cassell issued 13,500 copies in this printing. Longmans, Green, and Co., New York, published the first US edition on 11 February 1914. This edition features identical illustrations.
