In the course of his wanderings, Olaf learns about his past lives. Cassell and Co., London, published the first book edition of <span style="font-style:italic;">WN</span> on 29 January 1914, accompanied by four full-page lithographs by <a href="http://www.visualhaggard.org/illustrators/6">A. C. Michael</a>, including a color frontispiece. Cassell issued 13,500 copies in this printing. Longmans, Green, and Co., New York, published the first US edition on 11 February 1914.
